Leelaa Reader is a professional audiobook server for NAS and self-hosted environments. It is not just an audio player. It is an end-to-end listening system designed for long-running, stable, private deployments.

Why Leelaa Reader Exists

I am a software engineer with over ten years of experience, and also a heavy NAS and audiobook user.

After years of trying different products, I found a recurring gap: there were very few options that could deliver private ownership, self-hosted deployment, stability, usability, and clean design at the same time.

  • Most consumer listening apps depend on third-party cloud accounts and hosted content.
  • Many local/self-hosted alternatives are either minimal, unstable, or difficult to use.
  • Solutions that can run reliably on NAS 7x24 with large libraries, consistent progress sync, and modern UX are rare.

So I stopped waiting for an ideal solution and built one.

Leelaa Reader was created from real daily needs, with multiple rounds of redesign and reconstruction over three years.
